Job Description

Lead packaging designer supporting Foth, a science and engineering consulting firm, with industrial system design. Integrating CAD layouts and equipment for food and beverage clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership and support the design and integration of packaging systems for industrial clients, primarily in the food and beverage industry
  • Support engineers in designing and integrating packaging systems for industrial applications
  • Conduct field information-gathering activities
  • Develop and update 2D and 3D CAD layouts for packaging systems and equipment integration
  • Design packaging system components according to equipment specifications and project requirements
  • Create and maintain engineering drawing packages and related documentation
  • Coordinate drawing management and collaborate directly with clients
  • Collaborate with designers and engineers across multiple disciplines
  • Coordinate, delegate, and oversee design efforts of team members and contract resources as needed
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance within the packaging systems discipline
  • Support equipment installations, startup activities, and field troubleshooting
  • Assist engineers with equipment specifications, installation scopes of work, and technical decisions
  • Manage multiple projects while maintaining communication, organization, and attention to detail
  • Travel to client sites approximately 10–20% annually

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in Mechanical Design or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 7 years of CAD design experience
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with conveyor layout design
  • Proficiency using 2D and 3D CAD software for equipment integration and system design
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods, materials, and equipment capabilities
