Job Description
Linux Systems Administrator managing Ubuntu and Red Hat servers for mission-critical infrastructure in India. Maintaining security, automation, monitoring, reliability, and disaster recovery across environments.
Responsibilities:
- Manage, monitor, and maintain Ubuntu and Red Hat Linux servers across production and staging environments
- Perform system upgrades, kernel updates, patch management, and performance tuning
- Implement and manage user access, security policies, and backup/recovery strategies
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, operating system, and network-related issues
- Maintain configuration management and deployment pipelines using Ansible, Puppet, or similar tools
- Monitor system health and resource utilization to ensure uptime and performance
- Collaborate with DevOps and Cloud teams on environment provisioning across AWS, Azure, or on-premises infrastructure
- Manage server hardening, SSH configuration, SSL certificates, and OS-level security compliance
- Participate in capacity planning, disaster recovery, and incident response activities
- Create and maintain system documentation, SOPs, and audit reports
- Support mission-critical systems and streamline infrastructure management processes
Requirements:
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in Linux system administration with Ubuntu and Red Hat
- Strong command of Bash scripting and automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Shell, or Python basics
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Nagios, Zabbix, or Prometheus
- Solid understanding of DNS, DHCP, NFS, SSH, and firewalls
- Experience with virtualization and containerization technologies such as VMware, KVM, and Docker
- Strong troubleshooting skills with system logs, kernel issues, and service failures
- Familiarity with Git and CI/CD pipeline environments
- Exposure to AWS, GCP, or Azure is an added advantage
- Excellent documentation and communication skills; ability to support global teams
- RHCSA or RHCE certification preferred
- Experience managing high-availability clusters, load balancing, and RAID management preferred
- Previous experience in enterprise-scale infrastructure environments or technology product companies preferred
- Ability to handle pressure and maintain SLAs in critical environments
