Job Description
Medical Director leading US GI oncology and solid tumor medical affairs at Jazz Pharmaceuticals, a global biopharma company. Guiding strategy, scientific partnerships, clinical input, and cross-functional oncology initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Report to the Executive Director, Solid Tumors and lead the US Medical Affairs role for GI Oncology and Solid Tumors.
- Provide leadership and direction to a cross-functional Medical Affairs team in developing and executing Medical Affairs plans.
- Collaborate with brand and Clinical Development teams on strategic planning and lifecycle management of marketed and in-development products.
- Provide subject-matter expertise and guidance to sales, marketing, regulatory, and clinical colleagues.
- Resolve medical issues and provide scientific input for product materials, research ideas, and internal trainings.
- Build strategic partnerships with key opinion leaders and professional societies in oncology.
- Represent Medical Affairs at advisory boards, scientific meetings, and investigator interactions.
- Work collaboratively with Medical Science Liaisons, Medical Communications, HEOR, PVO, and Medical Information teams.
- Plan scientific congresses, advisory boards, publications, field-force training, medical information responses, health economics and epidemiology analyses, and marketing/policy projects.
- Provide scientific input into publication strategy and review manuscripts, abstracts, and posters.
- Participate in cross-functional Clinical and Commercial teams to inform brand strategies and tactics.
- Participate in Investigator Sponsored Trial review and educational grant processes.
- Respond to healthcare professional and managed care organization inquiries.
- Ensure medical affairs presentations are accurate, consistent, and clinically meaningful.
- Review and approve promotional materials.
Requirements:
- An Advanced degree (MD, DO, Ph.D., Pharm.D. or equivalent) is required.
- Oncology experience required, preferably GI tumors and Breast Cancer.
- 5-10 years in medical affairs or similar roles within a pharmacological company or equivalent clinical tenure in oncology is required.
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to collaborate with internal colleagues in sales, marketing, and managed care.
- Proven successful management of teams either directly or in a matrix environment.
- Demonstrated ability to build credible professional relations with Key Opinion Leaders.
- Ability to deliver scientific presentations.
- Self-starter with positive can-do attitude.
