Job Description
Remote Medical Scheduling Specialist scheduling medical appointments and diagnostic procedures for Hollis Cobb. Verifying orders, insurance, and patient data while delivering phone-based customer service.
Responsibilities:
- Communicate with patients and physicians to schedule medical appointments and diagnostic procedures
- Verify physician orders and schedule patients in a timely manner
- Operate and utilize client scheduling systems
- Provide patients with necessary information about scheduled appointments
- Update patient accounts in multiple client systems
- Perform other scheduling functions as needed
- Communicate with patients and physician staff
- Verify patient demographics and insurance
- Multitask while maintaining excellent customer service
- Transcribe physician orders for scheduling
- Adhere to departmental and client production standards
- Handle medical records accurately and confidentially in compliance with HIPAA, federal, state, and company requirements
- Perform other duties assigned by the manager
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent (preferred)
- 1 year of call center experience
- 2 years of radiology/medical specialty scheduling experience
- 1 year of medical terminology knowledge or experience
- CPAR certification preferred
- Working knowledge of medical terminology, insurance plans, and EMRs
- EPIC or Meditech experience
- Basic computer/PC and internet skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Customer service skills with heavy phone contact and client interface
- Ability to prioritize, work independently, and maintain focus under pressure
- Organization, multitasking, time management, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to maintain a 95% monthly average call QA score
- Dedicated quiet, distraction-free work area
- Ability to work on a computer for the scheduled shift and use multiple screens and systems simultaneously
- Required to be on camera 100% of the time during the scheduled shift
- Ability to occasionally stand or walk and lift/move up to 25 pounds
- Bilingual skills listed as preferred
