Job Description
Music production expert evaluating Mandarin Chinese generative music AI models for Mercor. Rating musical quality, labeling audio characteristics, and reviewing lyrics and vocals.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate generative music AI models in partnership with a leading AI lab
- Compare AI-generated songs head-to-head on musicality, creativity, prompt adherence, vocal quality, and production/mix quality
- Label songs by genre, structure, instruments, vocals, and other musical characteristics
- Review AI-generated lyrics and vocals against reference material for quality and accuracy
- Work in Mandarin Chinese and English
- Upload a resume and complete the application and onboarding steps
- Collaborate with leading researchers on projects training and enhancing AI systems
Requirements:
- Native or near-native proficiency in Mandarin Chinese
- Ability to follow detailed written instructions in English
- 2+ years of experience as a music producer, audio engineer, or mixing engineer
- Headphones or studio monitors suitable for critical listening
- Independent contractor engagement
- Must complete the Bilingual Competency Interview in Mandarin Chinese
- H1-B or STEM OPT candidates are not supported
- Formal training in music performance, theory, or composition (nice to have)
- Credited or commercially released production, engineering, or mixing work (nice to have)
- Broad familiarity with contemporary Mandarin Chinese genres, sub-genres, and artists (nice to have)
