Job Description

Nuclear experts red-teaming Mercor’s frontier AI models with safeguards and nonproliferation scenarios. Writing adversarial prompts, evaluating responses, and documenting technical rationales.

Responsibilities:

  • Write challenging single-turn prompts in the nuclear domain, labeled benign, dual-use, or adversarial
  • Evaluate model responses against a defined policy standard
  • Judge whether responses were handled correctly
  • Write reference answers describing correct responses and the technical reasoning behind them
  • Explain in writing why responses were or were not acceptable
  • Focus red-team scenarios on nuclear safeguards, nonproliferation, fuel cycles, nuclear security, forensics, and related misuse potential

Requirements:

  • Fuel-cycle depth plus exposure to how material is controlled, accounted for, or diverted
  • Safeguards and nonproliferation experience strongly preferred
  • Relevant backgrounds include safeguards analysis/IAEA or Euratom inspection, nuclear engineering, nuclear security engineering, nuclear forensics, or nonproliferation analysis
  • Technical writing, published research, or expert witness experience is a strong signal
  • Must be able to write clear rationales understandable to non-specialists
  • Must be able to read and write about misuse scenarios for sustained periods
  • Work must not involve or draw on classified or export-controlled information, NDA-covered information, or prepublication review obligations; applicants with such obligations must disclose them so work can be scoped accordingly

Benefits:

  • Earn up to $250 for each successful referral
  • Flexible participation: you can pause or step away at any point without penalty
  • Reasonable accommodations upon request
