Job Description
Solar O&M Technician managing operation and maintenance of solar PV systems across Ireland. Perform preventative and corrective maintenance for commercial, industrial, and utility-scale solar installations.
Responsibilities:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance in accordance with O&M schedules and manufacturer recommendations
- Perform inspections, testing and maintenance of solar PV systems, including modules, inverters, switchgear, combiner boxes, monitoring systems and associated electrical equipment across rooftop and ground-mounted installations
- Diagnose and rectify electrical, communications and monitoring faults to minimise downtime and maximise system performance
- Respond to reactive maintenance callouts and breakdowns as required
- Complete AC & DC electrical testing where applicable, including insulation resistance testing, thermal imaging and system performance checks
- Monitor system performance and investigate alarms or underperforming assets
- Maintain accurate service reports, maintenance records and fault logs using digital reporting systems
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental (QHSE) standards, Safe Electric requirements, RAMS and site procedures
- Liaise with the O&M Manager, operations team and equipment manufacturers to resolve technical issues
- Support commissioning activities, warranty claims, asset inspections and site surveys where required
- Manage site housekeeping, spare parts and customer communication while maintaining a professional standard at all times
Requirements:
- Qualified Electrician (National Craft Certificate or equivalent)
- Minimum three years' experience in electrical installation, maintenance or renewable energy
- Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Experience working on commercial or industrial electrical systems
- Full clean driving licence
- Willingness to travel throughout Ireland and work away from home when required
- Strong organisational, IT and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and safely
- Solar PV installation and maintenance experience (Desirable)
- Experience with SCADA, fibre networks and monitoring platforms (Desirable)
- Knowledge of Huawei, Sungrow or SMA inverter systems (Desirable)
- Working at Height, Manual Handling, and First Aid certification, Safe Pass (Desirable)
- Thermal imaging experience (Desirable)
- Experience with utility-scale solar assets, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) or EV charging infrastructure (Desirable)
