Job Description
Bank Street, an education institution advancing classroom practice, seeks an online advisor for early-childhood graduate fieldwork. Guiding students through observations, conferences, and reflective teacher development.
Responsibilities:
- Observe each advisee monthly for approximately 2-3 hours in the field via recorded lessons or live Zoom.
- Conduct online three-way meetings between advisees and site supervisors and/or co-teachers when needed.
- Convene and facilitate monthly online one-on-one meetings with each advisee.
- Facilitate a weekly online conference group during the fall and spring semesters.
- Provide academic and certificate guidance in accordance with degree requirements and college policy.
- Participate in monthly program and department meetings.
- Participate in monthly advisor meetings.
- Support graduate students in integrating theory and practice, reflecting on their development, and building professional learning communities.
- Support the development of graduate students' proficiency as teachers of young children with and without disabilities.
- Participate in the larger life of the graduate school through program, department, and advisor meetings.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in development, psychology, special education, or related field, required.
- More than five years of teaching experience working with children and families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Extensive experience in early childhood education settings.
- Critical orientation to issues of access and equity for students with disabilities.
- Experience providing reflective supervision to pre-service or in-service teachers preferred.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organization skills.
