Job Description

Practice Manager leading software engineering practice, projects, revenue, vendors, and distributed teams. TEKsystems Global Services delivers business and technology transformation services.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all functions relating to a specific technical practice, including personnel, tools, and vendor relationships
  • Work with clients and Delivery, Sales, Sales Support, Marketing, and other Practice teams to improve products and identify or develop offerings
  • Support or manage practice-based services generating $10M–$25M in annual consulting revenue
  • Leverage TEKsystems Global Services’ strengths to develop a foundational service set
  • Develop an optimal portfolio of productized and/or vertical offerings with Sales and Marketing
  • Oversee daily operational and tactical aspects of multiple projects and initiatives
  • Monitor project health and review deliverables across projects
  • Evaluate and potentially redesign practice offerings
  • Develop solutions for premise-based and geographically distributed/offshore delivery models
  • Create messaging covering offerings, competitive landscape, target clients, value proposition, and differentiation
  • Research industry benchmarks and develop systems to measure performance against industry standards
  • Manage revenue goals, forecasts, profitability, margins, billing rates, and utilization
  • Set revenue and profitability projection expectations
  • Support product development and sales with the Sales team
  • Build long-term client relationships and capitalize on partnership opportunities
  • Provide ongoing service updates to Practices, Solution Executives, Sales, and PMO
  • Identify and deliver speaking engagements within the practice domain
  • Participate in team and client meetings and increase visibility through industry organizations
  • Communicate project and practice information, including sensitive information, to stakeholders
  • Handle difficult personnel situations with discretion, HR advice, and respect
  • Manage vendor and partner relationships, SLAs, controls, qualification, and selection

Requirements:

  • BA or BS degree in a related field required; MS preferred
  • 15+ years of project management leadership experience in an IT consulting service provider environment
  • Program management experience managing a portfolio of projects concurrently
  • Practice-centric experience required, such as Application Management, Data Management, QA, or Application Development
  • Consulting business development experience preferred
  • Proposal and/or Statement of Work development experience
  • Experience in a Professional Services organization
  • Experience in smaller-scale consulting and assessment-focused delivery
  • High degree of confidence and efficacy in hands-on executive presentation and preparation, including C-suite audiences
  • Experience working with and creating strong relationships with India- and North America-based employees/teams
  • Project Management experience and understanding of the importance of control
  • Process Management experience
  • Sales Support Engineer/Pre-sales support experience
  • Strong conceptual and analytical problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize and plan complex work in a rapidly changing environment
  • Experience leading and collaborating across teams
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Superior people and personnel management skills
  • Ability to lead a geographically separated team
  • High customer-facing and client interaction/negotiation skills
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines
  • Self-motivated and capable of inspiring others
  • PMP preferred, not required
  • Six Sigma or Lean preferred, not required
  • ITIL preferred, not required
