Job Description

Principal engineer leading Akamai’s ZeroTrust security products for enterprise customers. Designing secure networks, enforcing FedRAMP standards, reviewing code, and mentoring global engineering teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Guide a team enhancing products for secured organizations, focusing on FedRAMP and similar standards
  • Design and implement secure network solutions for products
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to transform requirements into functional designs
  • Establish and uphold security standards, procedures, and guidelines across the product portfolio
  • Assess and recommend network and security technologies aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with audit, vulnerability assessment, and penetration testing teams to prioritize and address findings
  • Identify network and security risks in existing architecture and implementations
  • Review code in C, C++, Python, and Go
  • Establish standards and processes to improve secure-coding quality
  • Guide and mentor engineers delivering user access solutions
  • Stay current with networking, security, and cloud technology advancements

Requirements:

  • 12+ years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Expertise in networking protocols: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VLANs
  • Proven experience designing and deploying secure network infrastructures
  • Expertise in VPN software, virtual appliances, hypervisors, cloud platforms, and identity and access management protocols and tools
  • Expertise in security standards, frameworks, and best practices
  • Familiarity with NIST standards and FedRAMP compliance knowledge
  • Proficiency in C, C++, Python, or Go
  • Knowledge of secure coding practices
  • Knowledge of developing on-premises and cloud-based appliances
  • Ability to solve intricate network and security challenges
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and collaborate across diverse teams
