Job Description
Technical Program Lead for HVAC and Energy Systems validating performance, reliability, and safety. Collaborating with engineering design and field deployment for regulatory compliance before market release.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement detailed validation test plans for HVAC and energy systems in laboratory environments
- Design and set up test benches and simulation rigs to accurately replicate real-world operating conditions
- Execute functional, performance, and reliability testing on components and complete systems, including but not limited to air handlers, chillers, heat pumps, control units, and energy management platforms
- Collect, analyze, and interpret test data using advanced instrumentation and data acquisition systems
- Collaborate with design, product development, and quality assurance teams to resolve technical issues and optimize system performance
- Document test procedures, results, and findings; generate comprehensive validation reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure all testing complies with relevant industry standards (ASHRAE, ISO, UL, etc.) and regulatory requirements
- Identify and recommend improvements in test methodologies, equipment, and processes
- Support root cause analysis and troubleshooting activities for systems that fail validation
- Stay current with advancements in HVAC technologies, energy systems, and laboratory validation tools
- Align overall engineering programmatic deliverables and timeline, across COE's and subsystems
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering
- 10+ years of experience in laboratory testing, validation, or product development in residential products
- 2+ years proficiency with lab instrumentation, data acquisition, and automation software (e.g., LabVIEW, MATLAB, PLCs)
- 2+ years project management skills and experience in cross-functional engineering teams
- Experience with energy modeling and simulation tools (preferred)
- Familiarity with relevant standards and regulatory codes (ASHRAE, ISO, UL, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and HVAC system principles
- Strong knowledge of power electronics and battery systems
- Knowledge of IoT integration
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment
