Job Description
Project Manager/Professional Engineer leading Apex Companies’ water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Managing design, clients, budgets, business development, and technical teams.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and administer small decentralized public water systems and wastewater systems
- Lead the design of efficient and constructable civil projects
- Estimate and budget labor hours; review job costing reports and take corrective action
- Establish and maintain client relationships, ensure client satisfaction, and meet client objectives
- Mentor young design professionals
- Participate in business development opportunities and professional organizations/functions
- Manage cumulative project totals of $400K annually and achieve profitability goals
- Develop $300K in new project work annually
- Write and review technical reports and proposals
- Prepare and deliver marketing presentations
- Hire and manage subcontractors
- Mentor and train scientific staff and ensure quality work product
- Ensure safe performance of project work
Requirements:
- 10+ years' experience as a consulting engineer providing permitting, design, and construction of water and wastewater system projects
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or environmental engineering
- Professional registration (P.E.)
- Solid understanding of civil design and construction standards and environmental conditions/constraints
- Proven history of meeting project timelines and budgets
- Ability to develop creative engineering solutions for project constraints
- Ability to develop client relationships
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with clients, staff, and management
- Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D and HydroCAD
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Professional accreditation
- Technical writing, technical oversight, business development, project management, and mentoring/training skills
- Microsoft 365 / CRM proficiency
- Experience with Deltek Vision is highly desired
- 8–12 years of experience with environmental field sampling, data collection, and MCP report preparation under the direction of a Licensed Site Professional (LSP)
