Job Description
Remote Refund Specialist reconciling patient and insurance overpayments for Envision Radiology. Reviewing accounts, correcting payments, and issuing refunds across approved U.S. state markets.
Responsibilities:
- Review patient accounts and identify patient and insurance overpayments and credit balances
- Work closely with insurance companies and internal billers to reconcile correct payments received
- Evaluate and verify accounts in accordance with program provisions
- Perform data entry, post payments, reconcile billing and invoices, check balances, maintain patient files, and request refunds
- Identify credit balances due to electronic or manual insurance overpayments, patient overpayments, and adjustments from denials or contractual allowances
- Investigate and resolve assigned credit balance accounts through ticketing systems, credit balance ticklers, or email
- Correct patient and insurance payments to patient accounts
- Calculate, enter, and correct contractual adjustments and patient discounts when needed
- Issue patient and insurance refunds
- Detect posting and payer trends and/or errors
- Handle internal and external phone calls regarding credit balances and refunds
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Three plus years’ experience working with credit balances from electronic/manual EOBs, lockbox and patient payments or equivalent experience in patient accounting
- Three plus years’ experience in medical billing & refunding insurances and/or patients’ accounts or equivalent experience in patient accounting
- Detail oriented, self-motivated, a problem solver and a team player
- Ability to navigate multiple computer screens and browsers quickly and accurately
- Ability to excel in a very fast-pace team environment
- Ability to continuously “exceed” company and customer expectation
- Strong communication skills & professional demeanor
- Minimum of High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Adheres to Envision’s Code of Conduct and Compliance Policies and attends annual Compliance training
