Job Description

Renewable Development Engineer designing preliminary PV, BESS, and wind projects for NEI Electric Power Engineering. Supporting proposals, electrical studies, pricing, and client relationships.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary liaison for development, bid support, and/or preliminary (0%-30%) PV, BESS, and Wind design
  • Design PV, BESS, and Wind projects in all areas of the US
  • Act as liaison between the solar design team and internal and external stakeholders
  • Deliver preliminary PV, BESS, and/or Wind design (0-30%)
  • Meet technical requirements outlined by clients and/or owners
  • Create constraint files to determine initial project feasibility
  • Create solar, PV, or wind layouts
  • Perform preliminary cable and DC design
  • Perform preliminary civil grading and drainage
  • Provide high-level Bills of Materials for civil infrastructure, electrical material, and foundation quantities
  • Self-schedule preliminary design activities to meet external stakeholder deadlines
  • Perform electrical engineering studies, including load flow, ampacity, losses, and/or short circuit studies
  • Prepare production estimates using PVsyst
  • Work with the Proposal team and Subject Matter Experts to establish proposal pricing
  • Provide engineering and technical support to Business Development and Project Services team members
  • Develop and maintain company-client relationships
  • Develop equipment vendor relationships
  • Attend conferences, training workshops, seminars, and classes as appropriate
  • Attend safety training and adhere to safety rules and guidelines
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Civil Engineering from an accredited institution; electric power option preferred
  • 2 – 6 years of relevant engineering or field experience
  • FE, PE is a plus, but not required
  • Experience with energy modeling using PVsyst
  • Experience with AutoCAD and preferred PVCase
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Project
  • Basic understanding electrical and civil engineering with specific emphasis on PV solar
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with customers and internal personnel; exercises strong intrapersonal skills
  • Must be self-motivated, well-organized, and a skilled decision maker comfortable in a fast-paced design environment
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Commercial understanding of the engineering or construction industries
  • Effective written and oral communications skills
  • Good interpersonal and people skills
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
  • Must be able to lift 25lbs
