Job Description

Research Financial Analyst supporting system-wide research financial operations at Baystate Health. Ensuring financial integrity and compliance in complex research portfolio with remote work opportunity.

Responsibilities:

  • Support financial management of sponsored research programs, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
  • Prepare and analyze general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and budget-to-actual reports
  • Assist with award setup in financial systems by coordinating documentation and collaborating with SPA
  • Manage invoicing and accounts receivable (A/R) to ensure accurate billing and timely collections
  • Develop and format financial reports and dashboards for internal leadership review
  • Contribute to bi-monthly deficit reporting and support leadership decision-making
  • Process journal entries, budget adjustments, and activity closeouts in alignment with sponsor timelines
  • Maintain knowledge of sponsor regulations and institutional policies to minimize compliance risk
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on financial reporting and systems

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field, required
  • 1-3 years of experience in research finance, grants management, or financial operations, required
  • Experience with computer systems, including web-based application and Microsoft Office, required
  • Experience working with sponsored programs or central research offices, preferred
  • Experience in accounting or financial operations, preferred
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, sponsored program regulations, and compliance requirements
  • Advanced skills in Lawson financial systems, Excel, and reporting tools.
  • Ability to interpret complex financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights.
