Job Description
Scheduling Coordinator coordinating appointments, procedures, and diagnostic exams for Lehigh Valley Health Network. Managing patient information, insurance verification, referrals, and scheduling communications.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate all patient scheduling activities including appointments, procedures, and exams for multiple hospital, physician practice, outpatient departments, modalities, and facilities
- Facilitate communication between staff, referral sources and physician offices regarding scheduling concerns/issues
- Collect clinical information, obtain insurance, and verify patient demographics for appropriate scheduling of screening and diagnostic tests
- Schedule patients for physician appointments and diagnostic test procedures
- Educate patients, families and physician offices regarding department protocols, procedures, insurance, referrals and testing criteria
- Monitor practice protocols and department procedures and make recommendations for improvement
- Utilize scheduling software and other patient-specific software applications to facilitate patient access into the network
- Serve as a resource for staff, physicians, and referring offices
- Reduce errors, rework and defects through conscientious attention to detail
Requirements:
- High School Diploma/GED
- 6 months medical office, call center or customer service oriented work experience, or completion of an Associate's Degree program or higher in lieu of work experience
- Ability to maintain strict level of confidentiality
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment while handling multiple responsibilities
- Detail-oriented with the ability to enter information accurately into electronic systems
- Demonstrates ability to handle stressful situations
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Familiarization with EMR and scheduling systems such as EPIC, PHS etc. (preferred)
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish (preferred)
