Job Description
Client Onboarding Specialist managing onboarding for startups at airCFO. Responsible for setting up accounting systems and ensuring smooth client transitions.
Responsibilities:
- Set up accounting systems for new airCFO clients, ensuring a smooth transition to airCFO and build out of their back-office needs
- Clean up historical books and create adjustment entries to establish accurate financial baselines
- Build reconciliation schedules for prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and other key balance sheet items
- Analyze P&L statements to identify trends and help founders understand their burn rate
- Conduct virtual onboarding calls with founders to understand their unique needs and establish trust
- Manage asynchronous client communication via Slack and email within 24-hour SLA
- Identify opportunities to help clients level up their back-office and airCFO services
- Prepare and manage tax filings (e.g., W-2s, 1099s, 3921s, state filings).
- Support clients with audit preparations, working closely with auditors and tax advisors.
- Prioritize internal workflows (client administration, resource management, and accurate time tracking).
- Ensure operational efficiency and support client margin expectations.
- Additionally support the broader onboarding team during high-demand periods
- Contribute to process improvements that enhance the Launchpad client experience
- Develop skills that position you for future manager-level opportunities
- Learn new tech-stack tools and advise clients on best practices
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience required
- CPA certification required
- Proficiency in GAAP and accrual accounting
- 4+ years of experience managing a diverse portfolio of U.S. based clients, overseeing bookkeeping and month-end close processes
- Proven client-facing experience with U.S. clients, with a preference for experience working with high-tech startups (e.g., SaaS, eCommerce)
- Expertise in QBO/Xero and familiarity with small business tools like Bill.com, Gusto, Rippling, Ramp, and more
- Strong project management and client relationship management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills
- Experience in maintaining standardized processes and identifying opportunities for streamlining client deliverables.
