Job Description

Senior Backend Engineer building Gismart’s AI orchestration platform for image and video generation. Owning backend architecture, provider integrations, APIs, media pipelines, reliability, and usage billing.

Responsibilities:

  • Build the orchestration core as a unified layer over multiple AI providers
  • Implement failover, retries, rate limiting, and rapid onboarding of new AI models
  • Own stable, versioned API contracts consumed by the Flutter client
  • Build a media pipeline for storing and delivering generated assets through S3/CDN with cost control
  • Maintain reliability during paid-traffic spikes through metrics, tracing, and per-provider alerting
  • Implement usage accounting, per-generation cost tracking, billing integration, and idempotent charging
  • Design asynchronous generation pipelines with long-running job queues, provider webhooks, delivery guarantees, and failure recovery
  • Shape the product’s technical foundation, make architectural decisions, and own backend development end-to-end
  • Drive solutions as the first Product Engineer across the full development lifecycle

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of commercial backend development experience
  • Strong experience with Go, or solid backend expertise in Java, Kotlin, C#, Rust, or TypeScript with willingness to transition to Go from day one
  • Experience designing and building backend services under real production load
  • Understanding of architectural trade-offs and decision-making
  • Strong REST and gRPC API design skills
  • Focus on maintainability, backward compatibility, and APIs consumed by mobile applications
  • Experience integrating third-party APIs, including retries, idempotency, rate limiting, and graceful recovery from partial failures
  • Strong PostgreSQL knowledge, including transactions, isolation levels, indexing, and data consistency
  • Experience with asynchronous processing and messaging systems such as SQS, Redis, Kafka, or Temporal
  • Experience with AWS or GCP, Docker, and modern CI/CD pipelines
  • Practical observability experience with metrics, logging, tracing, and independently debugging production issues
  • Ability to ramp up on an existing codebase and build on it rather than rewrite it
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, iterative pre-PMF environment
  • Ready to take ownership as the first Product Engineer
  • Experience with VictoriaMetrics, Grafana, and Sentry is a plus
  • Production experience with generative models, billing systems, media pipelines, B2C products, streaming protocols, Kubernetes, Kafka, early-stage startups, or shipped personal projects are nice to have

Benefits:

  • Flexible working schedule
  • Work anywhere in the world, either remotely or in one of the corporate hubs
  • 100% compensation for coworking spaces in Ukraine, except Kyiv
  • 50% compensation for coworking spaces worldwide
  • Free office lunches for employees working from hubs
  • 6 fixed public holidays per year plus 5 flexible additional holidays

  • Partial coverage of medical insurance, sports activities, and therapy costs
  • Equipment provision or maintenance cost coverage for personal tools
  • 70% coverage of professional development courses
  • 100% coverage of corporate English courses
  • 18 working days of paid vacation and 3 personal days per year
  • An extra vacation day for each year at Gismart
  • Corporate events and team-building activities across Gismart hubs
