Job Description

Senior College Counseling Manager at ESM Prep leading a team of college coaches while managing personal student roster. Focusing on mentorship, quality control, and operational excellence in college counseling.

Responsibilities:

  • People Leadership & Mentorship: Lead and develop a team of college coaches, conducting regular 1-on-1s, performance reviews, and professional development sessions to ensure best-in-class advice.
  • Quality Control & Oversight: Review student college lists, essays, and strategic plans created by your team to ensure every family receives the expert guidance that defines the ESM | CMP experience.
  • Operational Management: Collaborate with sales and department leadership to manage counselor capacity, maintain the sales/service matrix, and hit quarterly performance targets.
  • Onboarding & Training: Join the recruiting process and lead the training/shadowing for new hires, integrating them into the Guidewell culture and resource library.
  • Senior College Coaching: Act as a "Player-Coach" by guiding your own small roster of students through the search, planning, and application process with strategic excellence.
  • Industry Thought Leadership: Lead webinars and events, develop new counseling resources, and stay on the cutting edge of admissions trends to build our presence as industry leaders.

Requirements:

  • 5+ Years of College Counseling Experience: A proven track record of student success and deep fluency in the current US college admissions landscape.
  • 3+ Years of Leadership Experience: Demonstrated ability to manage team performance, foster psychological safety in remote environments, and coach professionals toward annual goals.
  • Operational Excellence: Proficiency in data-driven decision-making, capacity management, and maintaining operational systems.
  • Technical Tool Belt: Expert-level proficiency with CRM tools and project management software (experience with Asana, Airtable, or Notion is highly preferred).
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional public speaking presence for webinars and the ability to provide high-level strategic feedback on student work.
