Job Description
Senior DevOps Engineer designing secure cloud-native products and developer platforms for Abstra, a Latin American tech talent services company. Improving automation, observability, reliability, and service delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and scale core products
- Build backend services, frontend experiences, and cloud-native applications
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship
- Influence engineering best practices across the team
- Define repeatable service-delivery practices through modular, reusable automation and a developer platform enabling self-service delivery
- Participate in governance controls that reduce risk and promote standardization
- Support service delivery excellence for customer-facing and customer-adjacent products and services as part of the Developer Experience team
- Refine enablement practices including design review, service launch coordination, production readiness assessment, service-level objective definition and review, incident management, and cost awareness
- Collaborate with delivery teams to define product-specific metrics and remediations
- Perform system analysis, testing, and fault troubleshooting
- Participate in an on-call rotation to respond to and triage production issue escalations during off-hours
Requirements:
- 4+ years of experience running high availability systems and supporting infrastructure in customer-facing production environments
- Proficiency with a high-level programming language (e.g., Python, Go)
- Proficiency in Bash scripting and Linux
- Proficiency in modern technical operating practices
- System architecture and design experience
- Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery using Jenkins, FluxCD, and GitHub Actions
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
- Experience with AWS cloud services and Kubernetes
- Knowledge of SRE principles and practices
- Experience with AWS offerings including ECS, EKS, ECR, EC2, S3, RDS, VPCs, IAM policy documents, policies, roles, instance profiles, and CloudWatch Logs
- Experience with Docker containers and orchestration using ECS and EKS
- Knowledge of Kubernetes cluster concepts and design
- Experience improving service observability through monitoring agents, metrics, logging, and dashboards
- Knowledge of OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and observability platforms such as Datadog, Splunk, Dynatrace, or Observe
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and respond to production issue escalations during off-hours
- Successful completion of employment verification and background checks
- Verification of job titles and employment dates with two previous employers
