Job Description
Senior DevSecOps Engineer building Kubernetes-based software factories for Raft, a federal defense technology company. Automating secure cloud deployments and supporting U.S. military and government agencies.
Responsibilities:
- Establish a software factory platform using agile development practices
- Leverage GitOps processes to deploy a DevSecOps platform for developer teams to push software into production in the federal sector
- Use open source and Cloud Native Computing Foundation Kubernetes framework to provide a lightweight, vendor-agnostic system
- Develop Infrastructure as Code and Configuration as Code using GitCI
- Leverage AWS cloud infrastructure
- Create Helm charts and deploy to EKS
- Develop scripts in Bash, Python, Perl, and Go
- Identify opportunities for automation
- Integrate services with Kubernetes and third-party systems
- Learn new tools using foundational knowledge
- Use logs to pinpoint code issues
- Contribute to open source
- Participate in daily scrum meetings, bi-weekly sprint planning, quarterly milestone planning, and as-needed pairing sessions
- Travel to customer sites domestically and internationally up to 35%
Requirements:
- U.S. citizenship required for employment
- All work must be conducted within the continental U.S.
- 4-5+ years of industry experience for senior-level positions
- 3-5 years of experience with Kubernetes, including EKS and Docker
- Knowledge of Istio, Custom Kubernetes Operators, Custom Helm charts, Custom Admission Controllers, Custom CRDs, or Custom Controllers
- 2+ years of experience building, operating, and maintaining compliant computing environments in AWS or Azure using Terraform/Helm for deployments
- Golang knowledge for cloud-based or server-side solutions
- Proficiency in Python for scripting, debugging, and problem-solving
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines for production, development, and testing environments
- Experience with Puppet, Chef, or Ansible
- Experience building and managing containers using Docker
- Familiarization with container security, hardening, baselining, and CI/CD
- Experience working as a DevSecOps Engineer on Kubernetes scale problems
- Working knowledge of debugging cluster-based computing architectures
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in CS, CE, or related field
- One of: CISM, CISSP, CISA, CCISO, CCNP Security, GLSC, or Security X
- CKA or CKAD certification
- Active Secret security clearance
- Highly preferred: experience with DoD’s Platform One, Big Bang, and/or Iron Bank
- Highly preferred: ability to develop custom Kubernetes Operators
