Job Description
Senior Fullstack Software Engineer building AI-powered test automation and quality platforms for Airbnb’s global stays and experiences marketplace. Leading robust testing across web, backend, and CI/CD systems.
Responsibilities:
- Leverage AI and tooling to lead implementation of a test automation strategy across unit, service, integration, and end-to-end testing
- Build, maintain, and effectively utilize automated tests for features and releases
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure robust test coverage and continuously improve testing processes
- Improve existing automation frameworks to support new functionalities and optimize quality and efficiency
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines in collaboration with the CI/CD team
- Troubleshoot, isolate issues, verify bug fixes, and debug issues found during testing and after release
- Ensure code quality, commitment to craft, and operational excellence
- Collaborate with product management, development, and other Quality Engineering teams in a fast-paced environment
- Develop and maintain quality engineering processes that scale for Airbnb’s external customers and internal teams
Requirements:
- 5+ years of industry experience in software engineering and testing
- Demonstrable knowledge of at least one web development language, such as TypeScript or JavaScript
- Comfort working in a backend language, such as Java, Kotlin, Python, or Go
- Strong knowledge of test automation methodologies, tools, and frameworks
- Strong hands-on experience with automation frameworks, such as Playwright or Cypress
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, such as Buildkite, Spinnaker, or Jenkins
- Experience with version control systems, including Git
- Experience using quality signals such as coverage, flaky test rate, suite execution time, and escaped defects
- Excellent communication skills for facilitating cross-functional interactions
- Expertise developing solutions to ambiguous problems and integrations across multiple teams
- Curiosity about applying AI/LLMs to testing and developer productivity
- Comfortable collaborating in English
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering or equivalent
