Job Description
Senior Engineering Manager building Akamai's automation, observability, and identity services. Leading a new engineering team supporting Akamai's global cloud and edge network.
Responsibilities:
- Build and lead a new team of engineers
- Build a portfolio of services focused on automation, observability, and identity management
- Formulate an execution strategy and roadmap for delivery of the new service portfolio
- Coordinate with a cross-functional product team including architects, testers, customer support, and operations
- Work with management to identify risks, solve problems, and maintain progress
- Hire and onboard new team members as needed
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and innovative team environment
- Create reliable, scalable, secure, enterprise-grade products
- Handle day-to-day management tasks including 1:1 meetings, performance reviews, and coaching/mentoring
Requirements:
- 10 or more years of relevant software engineering experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- 3 or more years of experience managing a software development team using either Python or Go
- Experience with distributed systems, microservices, and cloud technologies
- Knowledge of software development practices including Agile methodologies, continuous integration, and automated testing
- Experience with tools such as GIT, JIRA, and Jenkins
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
