Job Description
Senior Manager leading instructional design and AI-enabled learning innovation for TAG, a U.S. retail healthcare business support organization. Managing designers, pilots, standards, and scalable learning solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, manage, and develop the Instructional Design team
- Oversee learning solution design and development from discovery through implementation
- Manage workload, priorities, timelines, risks, deliverables, instructional effectiveness, accessibility, accuracy, and brand alignment
- Translate Learning Design strategy into team priorities, standards, operating practices, and development expectations
- Identify and implement responsible AI uses for learning design, development, evaluation, and learner experience
- Advance simulations, scenario-based learning, practice experiences, gamification, rapid-development methods, interactive solutions, and learning in the flow of work
- Design and manage pilots and proofs of concept, including hypotheses, success measures, timelines, stakeholder expectations, and evaluation plans
- Scale successful innovations into reusable tools, templates, standards, playbooks, training, and implementation guidance
- Evaluate emerging authoring methods, tools, and platform capabilities with Learning Technology and internal teams
- Develop and maintain reusable design resources, frameworks, quality standards, and development guidance
- Measure learning design and innovation impact using project data, learner feedback, quality indicators, adoption measures, and business inputs
- Collaborate with L&D teams, HR, business stakeholders, senior leaders, business partners, and subject matter experts
- Advise on complex or high-visibility initiatives, clarify performance needs, recommend learning strategies, and align investments with measurable outcomes
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred
- Equivalent experience in instructional design, learning experience design, or learning innovation may be considered in lieu of an advanced degree
- 7+ years of experience in learning and development, instructional design, learning experience design, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience leading, coaching, or directly managing learning professionals
- Experience leading medium- to large-scale learning initiatives from discovery through implementation
- Experience applying adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, performance consulting, and learner-centered design practices
- Experience exploring or implementing AI-enabled learning solutions, emerging learning technologies, or development efficiencies
- Experience with simulations, scenario-based learning, gamification, rapid development, interactive learning, or other innovative learning approaches
- Ability to move ideas from concept through pilot, evaluation, recommendation, and scalable implementation
- Strong project and workload management skills
- Experience developing reusable templates, standards, tools, frameworks, or design systems
- Ability to evaluate learning effectiveness using data, learner feedback, and business input
- Strong business acumen connecting learning design decisions to operational priorities and measurable outcomes
- Ability to consult with senior leaders, business partners, and subject matter experts
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Ability to balance strategic leadership, people management, and hands-on work in a fast-paced environment
