Job Description

Senior Site Reliability Engineer maintaining Akamai's Linux kernels, KVM/QEMU virtualization, and cloud infrastructure. Supporting distributed Compute products that make digital experiences faster and more secure.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, test, and distribute changes to software, services, and tools enabling hardware platforms
  • Design and implement observability infrastructure to identify and correct problems before customer impact
  • Develop subject matter expertise in team components
  • Mentor team members
  • Identify and implement automation best practices for products and processes
  • Collaborate with support, operations, and engineering teams to investigate and troubleshoot complex problems
  • Participate in on-call rotations and guide restoration and repair of service-impacting issues
  • Focus on Linux kernels, operating systems, KVM/QEMU virtualization, guest images, and bare-metal and VM infrastructure platforms
  • Work closely with HIVE hardware teams to ensure new hardware programs succeed in datacenters

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience
  • Bachelor's diploma in Computer Science or its equivalent
  • Advanced experience in Linux internals, system administration, and underlying hardware
  • Advanced experience with the Linux kernel, operating systems, KVM/QEMU, and nested virtualization
  • Expert-level experience designing, developing, and deploying software and infrastructure at scale
  • Advanced-level experience in an engineering role working with large-scale distributed systems
  • Experience with SaltStack, Ansible, Kubernetes, Chef, or Puppet for managing infrastructure at scale
