Job Description

Senior Full Stack Software Engineer building scalable digital services for federal agencies at Ad Hoc. Developing high-availability applications, mentoring engineers, and advancing accessible government technology.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as an experienced individual contributor within a software engineering team
  • Further develop leadership, guidance and mentoring skills
  • Support meeting scope, schedule and delivery requirements with minimal leadership oversight
  • Contribute to the program’s development strategy and long-term goals
  • Demonstrate ownership and accountability for contributions to an application code base
  • Coordinate integration with adjacent technical systems and ecosystems
  • Diagnose and resolve issues in owned systems, using incidents to drive education and system improvements
  • Mentor and assist junior engineers
  • Communicate technical issues and developments with team members and clients
  • Participate in technical interviews
  • Propose and evaluate approaches to technical and process problems
  • Lead small, less critical, temporary team structures and projects when needed
  • Present design documents and system diagrams to clients, stakeholders, partners and engineers

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 8 years of experience developing systems and applications for Federal clients
  • Experience with enterprise-level, high-availability application development
  • Object-oriented design (OOD) patterns for separation of concerns, code reusability, security and performance
  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks such as React.js, Angular, and Node.js
  • Experience developing clean, well-architected code
  • Cloud computing experience with Cloud Foundry, Azure or AWS
  • Continuous integration and deployment experience such as Jenkins
  • Source Control Management, preferably Git/GitHub
  • Strong database skills; preferably Oracle or SQL Server
  • SQL or similar query language and data constructs including XML and JSON
  • Experience developing/consuming Web Services (REST, SOAP, JSON), ETL jobs and APIs (Service-oriented architectures)
  • Hands-on experience applying digital accessibility standards and best practices, including Section 508 and WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA
  • Experience using accessibility testing tools such as Axe, WAVE, Lighthouse and screen readers (JAWS/NVDA)
  • Strong understanding of functional, SOA and performance testing methodologies
  • Prior government contracting experience preferred
