Job Description
Senior Front-End Software Engineer building accessible web applications for the Department of Veterans Affairs. Integrating AI-driven insights, REST APIs, and cloud services into secure user experiences.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain front-end web applications using modern web technologies
- Build and style responsive, accessible, and user-friendly interfaces for VA stakeholders
- Integrate front-end components with backend REST services and APIs
- Collaborate with AI/ML engineers to incorporate AI-driven insights and decision support into user interfaces and workflows
- Implement front-end best practices for performance, security, and scalability in cloud-hosted environments
- Work with UX designers and product owners to translate requirements and wireframes into production-ready UI components and screens
- Support front-end testing, debugging, and performance optimization, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing where applicable
- Maintain documentation for front-end components, UI patterns, and integration points with APIs and platform services
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent relevant experience) and 5 years of experience; or Master’s Degree and 3 years of experience
- Ability to obtain CompTIA Security+ certification within 90 days of employment
- Must be a U.S. Citizen; no dual citizenship
- Ability to obtain a secret clearance
- Hands-on experience building front-end web applications using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Experience with at least one modern front-end framework or library (e.g., ReactJS, Angular, or Vue)
- Experience with Material UI or a similar component library
- Experience using version control (Git) with platforms such as GitLab or GitHub
- Experience working in a cloud environment (e.g., AWS, Azure)
- Experience integrating front-end applications with backend services and RESTful APIs
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative Agile environment
