Job Description
Software developer completing and narrating coding tasks for Mercor’s AI-model training projects. Building, debugging, refactoring, and reviewing code remotely on a personal Mac.
Responsibilities:
- Complete and narrate real software development tasks on a Mac
- Build, debug, refactor, and review code
- Create high-quality training data for advanced AI models
- Submit a resume and complete a 3-minute AI interviewer conversation
- Complete a brief paid assessment
- Receive follow-up communication regarding application status and next steps
- Work as an independent contractor on projects that may be extended, shortened, or concluded early based on needs and performance
Requirements:
- Own a MacBook or Mac with an Apple M-series chip or Intel processor, running macOS 15 or higher
- Hands-on experience with one or more programming languages, such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Swift, Java, or Go
- Comfortable with VS Code, Xcode, Terminal, Git, and package managers on macOS
- Currently pursuing or recently completed Master's studies, or have 2–3 years of relevant professional coding experience plus a Bachelor's degree from a prestigious institution
- Ability to clearly explain reasoning while working
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Unable to support H1-B or STEM OPT candidates
