Job Description
Part-time Software Engineer co-op at Raytheon, an aerospace and defense company, completing training and clearance activities remotely. Converting to onsite systems engineering work after graduation and clearance approval.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in the Raytheon Cooperative Education Program as a part-time Software Engineer co-op
- Participate in monthly engagement seminars
- Complete Raytheon-required training
- Participate in security clearance activities
- Meet with a mentor
- Spend 2–4 hours per month supporting co-op activities; the role does not include internship or direct program/project work
- After graduation and clearance approval, transition to a full-time onsite position in Richardson, Texas
- Upon conversion, support the design, development, and maintenance of systems supporting customer missions
Requirements:
- Must be a Senior or Post-Graduate with graduation/completion of studies in December 2027 in Computer Science or a related STEM major
- Minimum of 90 credit hours by the start of the internship/co-op session
- Experience developing object-oriented software using Java in a Linux environment; experience may come from on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects
- Ability to troubleshoot software errors and provide fixes in a modern IDE such as Eclipse or VSCode
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued TS/SCI security clearance
- U.S. citizenship required
- Active and existing security clearance required after day 1
- Experience with Agile development preferred
- Experience with Python, C++, or Javascript preferred
- Experience with AWS Cloud preferred
- Experience with microservices, Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized applications preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills preferred
