Job Description
Remote Senior Survey Technician processing field survey data and drafting plats for Gulf’s global energy projects. Supporting Project Managers and mentoring junior survey technicians.
Responsibilities:
- Communicate with the Project Manager to understand project needs
- Review, process, and perform QA/QC on field survey data
- Perform drafting, deliverable reviews, revisions, and prepare final client deliverables
- Understand project scope and requirements and review field data for completeness
- Communicate project status to the Project Manager
- Review notes, sketches, and survey records to verify data-processing accuracy
- Prepare field packages for field crews, including point files, DXF files, KMZ files, and related information
- Process and perform quality-control checks on field data according to Gulf standards
- Draft, map, and prepare deed sketches, easement sketches, and other parcels
- Prepare, review, and finalize exhibits and plats, including ALTA Surveys, Easement Plats, and Topographic Surveys
- Assist the Project Manager with delegating work to lower-level survey technicians
- Help keep lower-level survey technicians on task and mentor them on Gulf standards
- Perform responsibilities in accordance with Gulf Procedures and the Health, Safety, and Environment policy
- Perform additional duties as assigned or expected to add value to projects and exceed client expectations
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in a survey office environment
- Well versed in AutoCAD Civil 3D for survey-specific work
- Experience with Trimble software such as Trimble Business Center
- Basic understanding of Land/Civil Survey nomenclature including map projections, datums, coordinate systems, bearings, and azimuths
- Previous fieldwork experience preferred but not required
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Minimum high school diploma or GED
- College or Technical training in Geomatics, land surveying, AutoCAD drafting, or other related technical skills preferred
- Physically able to operate an automobile and have reliable transportation
- Ability to work outside in all types of weather/weather conditions
- Frequent standing and walking on jobsites; ability to bend, crouch, or climb for prolonged periods
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds when handling/operating survey equipment
- Ability to travel as required for site visits
