Job Description

Remote-site technician diagnosing, repairing, and assembling Caterpillar underground mining equipment for Toromont Cat. Supporting safe operations, service documentation, and customer relations on a 14/14 rotation.

Responsibilities:

  • Safely and effectively diagnose, repair, and/or assemble Caterpillar underground mining and earthmoving equipment
  • Diagnose mechanical problems using Caterpillar testing equipment
  • Repair and/or assemble allied or competitive underground earthmoving equipment within established timelines and quality standards
  • Prepare accurate and timely service reports and service documentation
  • Participate as an integrated member of onsite mechanical staff
  • Maintain good customer relations
  • Follow company and customer health and safety policies and procedures
  • Participate in safe, environmentally sound, and healthy work behaviors supporting Toromont’s Health and Safety policies, programs, and initiatives

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in heavy equipment, heavy vehicle, or heavy engine mechanics
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Technician repairing and servicing underground mining and earthmoving equipment
  • Provincial Red Seal license in heavy equipment mechanics (421A) or truck & coach mechanics (310T)
  • Experience repairing and maintaining underground mining equipment; experience must be shown on resume
  • Underground common core is a big asset
  • Ability to comply with company and customer health and safety policies and procedures
