Job Description
Manager Software Engineer leading software architecture, delivery, and engineering teams. CDW provides technology solutions to business, government, education, and healthcare organizations.
Responsibilities:
- Gather platform requirements and product features from business, security, and technology stakeholders
- Determine work requirements, priorities, and resource allocation for development projects and unplanned incidents
- Plan and prioritize multiple projects and application architecture, including system partitioning and framework design
- Create and review project estimates covering resources, timelines, and budgets
- Review technical decisions against design goals
- Develop solutions meeting CDW coding standards and quality expectations
- Lead and mentor multiple teams of mid- to senior-level engineers through coaching, feedback, and performance conversations
- Guide the team's technological direction
- Partner with peers, product leaders, business leaders, and key stakeholders
- Lead strategic technology planning and determine the group's future technical strategy
- Contribute to business plans, staffing, budgeting, and process decisions
- Prioritize platform upgrades and initiatives addressing technical debt
- Own non-functional requirements, technology standards, architectural direction, technical documentation, and code quality
- Maintain high security standards and promote security awareness
- Assess and monitor the impact of new technologies on markets and product lines
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree and 7 years in software development and 1 year of experience managing technology organizations, with proven team building and leadership skills, OR 11 years of software development experience and 1 year of experience managing technology organizations
- Ability to interface confidently and clearly with senior leaders internally and externally
- Ability to convert strategic plans into actionable programs and projects
- Ability to attract and retain talent
- Ability to create and promote a culture of technology excellence and innovation
- Experience with .NET, API design, Cloud Architecture, data storage, big data technology, and streaming data processing
- Experience with agile principles including test-driven development, continuous integration, and test automation
- Ability to solve problems creatively
- Ability to communicate technical possibilities and limitations to non-technical colleagues
- Ability to balance multiple priorities and adapt to changing business needs while meeting deadlines
