Job Description
Staff Software Engineer building AI agents and infrastructure for Facility Grid’s construction commissioning and turnover software. Modernizing its legacy PHP and Angular application.
Responsibilities:
- Design and build the agentic product suite from prototype to production
- Build the underlying AI platform, including evaluation, guardrails, context management, and agent harnesses
- Set standards for designing, testing, and rolling out AI features
- Guide the team in adopting AI development standards
- Modernize the legacy PHP and Angular application layer
- Evaluate new models and tooling and adopt improved solutions
- Lead the design and implementation of the agentic product suite and AI platform
- Write code daily, primarily through agents that the engineer directs
- Participate in hiring manager screening, code reading, and systems design interviews
Requirements:
- Senior/staff-level software engineering experience
- Ability to take problems end to end and own production outcomes
- Ability to understand how the whole system works, including unfamiliar code
- Forward-looking, agent-first engineering experience with tools like Claude Code
- Experience handing off whole features to agents, running several agents in parallel, and building harnesses around them
- Ability to evaluate AI tools and understand where they fail
- Ability to reason about distributed systems
- Ability to trace a request through a distributed system
- Ability to defend design trade-offs
- Hands-on coding experience
- Experience with legacy PHP and Angular applications is relevant to modernization
- Must be based in the US
