Job Description

Flight Nurse providing critical care during air-medical transports for PHI Health, a United States air ambulance provider. Performing emergency assessment, treatment, stabilization, and transport documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide safe, comprehensive care to critically ill and/or injured patients of all ages in pre-hospital settings and during inter-facility transports
  • Perform specialized functions and complex assessments, diagnoses, therapies, and emergency treatment during rotor-wing, fixed-wing, and/or ground transport
  • Document assessment and treatment information during stabilization and transport
  • Document complete billing information for patient transports
  • Maintain timely communication between management and internal and external customers
  • Participate in PR and marketing activities
  • Maintain flight nursing knowledge through meetings, chart reviews, equipment reviews, skill labs, clinical rotations, and continuing education
  • Complete annual recurrent competency requirements
  • Maintain an active RN license and required certifications
  • Function under the Medical Director's direction through protocols, procedures, and online medical guidance
  • Report clinical matters to the Manager of Clinical Services and indirectly to the National Director of Clinical Standards

Requirements:

  • Active RN Compact license required
  • Must be able to obtain an RN California license
  • Minimum three years of current critical care/emergency experience; five years preferred
  • Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNATC, TNCC, ITLS, or PHTLS certification
  • NRP certification preferred
  • Instructor certifications preferred
  • CFRN certification required within twenty-four months of hire
  • Flight or transport experience preferred
  • Successful completion of the PHI Air Medical Group education/orientation program
  • Effective human relations skills for interfacing with personnel and external customers
  • Must meet the clinical personnel flight weight restriction according to policy
  • Basic computer skills for email and electronic charting
  • Body weight below 235 lbs
  • Ability to pass a pre-placement physical and functional capacity exam, including strength and flexibility assessment and lifting up to 100 pounds
  • Ability to pass drug screening
