Job Description

Project management team lead overseeing electrical utility engineering projects from development through construction support. Mentoring project teams, managing budgets and schedules, and coordinating clients, contractors, and utilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a team of Project Managers and Project Coordinators supporting electrical substation, transmission line, and studies projects through development, engineering, and construction support
  • Plan and track progress on active engineering projects, including financial performance
  • Manage and guide Project Managers, Associate Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, and Project Coordinators
  • Review, develop, and manage engineering schedules, budgets, scope, and subcontractors
  • Manage project documentation, including internal, external stakeholder, and project financing records
  • Lead client project status meetings and provide schedule updates, respond to requests for information, and report on engineering progress
  • Ensure project quality control and customer satisfaction by coordinating and monitoring engineering deliverables
  • Coordinate with EPC contractors, subconsultants, electric utilities, and clients regarding contract compliance and deliverables
  • Manage internal client services teams to deliver projects on time and within budget
  • Support permitting and jurisdictional approval processes
  • Support business development, marketing tasks, and proposal preparation
  • Review customer specifications and help formulate and communicate commercial strategy
  • Manage utility interconnection processes and related construction project documentation
  • Develop and maintain company-client relationships
  • Mentor, coach, and develop team members

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years professional experience in a project management role is required
  • Undergraduate degree in engineering, project management, construction management, or relevant field
  • Strong proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, CPM scheduling, and Microsoft Project or Primavera P6
  • Superior communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, including an ability to maintain calm and effective exchanges by all parties during stressful situations
  • Excellent organizational skills demonstrated by clear and effective project plans and executive level reporting
  • Must be able to lift 25lbs
  • Typical travel requirement of 10–25%
  • Familiarity with electrical substations, transmission lines, medium voltage collection and distribution, PV engineering, and battery storage is nice to have
  • Project Management Institute PMP certification preferred
