Job Description

Technical Product Manager owning backend APIs, data pipelines, and releases for Pearl’s U.S. home performance rating platform. Coordinating distributed engineering teams and translating technical changes into product delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the product roadmap for Pearl’s backend systems, API layer, and data pipelines
  • Define backend initiative requirements and acceptance criteria with engineering and product
  • Assess downstream product impact of API, data model, and pipeline changes
  • Partner with onshore and offshore backend engineering teams
  • Run planning and communication rhythms with distributed engineering teams
  • Resolve ambiguity, make scoping decisions, and escalate tradeoffs
  • Translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Lead release planning for backend and data pipeline initiatives
  • Coordinate timelines, dependencies, and deployment readiness
  • Own release notes, internal communications, rollback planning, and post-deploy validation
  • Track in-flight, upcoming, and at-risk work
  • Drive quality control across backend product deliverables
  • Lead initiatives from problem definition through delivery
  • Identify risks and quality gaps and work with engineering to resolve them
  • Write requirements documents, release summaries, decision logs, and stakeholder updates

Requirements:

  • 3–5 years of product management experience
  • Meaningful experience with backend, API, or data platform products
  • Hands-on familiarity with backend engineering workflows
  • Understanding of API development and versioning
  • Understanding of data pipelines
  • Understanding of deployment risks and practices
  • Ability to work effectively with distributed or offshore engineering teams
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Ability to write requirements, release plans, and stakeholder updates
  • Product sense to assess how backend changes affect dependent products
  • Experience owning release planning and deployment coordination for backend or infrastructure products
  • Ability to drive projects from scratch
  • Ownership of quality outcomes, not just delivery timelines
  • Curiosity about how backend decisions shape end-user experience
  • Alignment with Pearl’s mission and values
