Job Description

Actuarial Analyst pricing and filing pet insurance products for Independence Pet Holdings. Analyzing risk, maintaining models, and communicating insights to guide decisions.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and evaluate the likelihood of future events to reduce and manage future financial risks
  • Contribute to product pricing and rate filings for pet insurance products
  • Provide analysis and innovative solutions to guide decision making
  • Complete and interpret actuarial analysis, valuations, cost estimates, and modeling using mathematics, statistical programming, and financial theory
  • Prepare rate filings, pricing analysis, and experience reports for review
  • Assist with completion of rate filing documents for all states
  • Research rate filings as needed
  • Maintain and update existing models, tools, and files used for analysis
  • Complete ad hoc reporting
  • Interpret rate objections and prepare responses and rating support
  • Interpret rate regulations and apply them to rating development and support
  • Communicate results and analysis to technical and non-technical audiences and management
  • Perform other assigned duties and responsibilities

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Math, Finance, Actuarial Science, Economics or related field or equivalent work experience
  • 2 years’ relevant experience
  • Proven ability to pass actuarial exams
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with SQL, R, or Python is a plus
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas, product details, and analysis to technical and non-technical internal audiences and management
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to a fast-paced, evolving environment
