Job Description

Enrolled Actuary reviewing Defined Benefit and Cash Balance plans for Strongpoint Partners’ retirement services platform. Handling compliance testing, filings, FASB reports, and client consulting.

Responsibilities:

  • Independently review a caseload of 150+ Defined Benefit and Cash Balance Plans under IRS laws and regulations
  • Review annual nondiscrimination testing for qualified pension plans
  • Review PBGC filings and notices
  • Certify contribution and asset amounts for AFTAP
  • Prepare and review annual FASB reports
  • Review distribution packages and annual participant statements
  • Review IRS and DOL filings, including Form 5500 and Schedule SB
  • Prepare preliminary design studies and projections meeting nondiscrimination requirements
  • Prepare, review, and consult on plan termination filings with IRS and PBGC
  • Represent clients in IRS, PBGC, and DOL audits, P/T Exemption, and VCP filings
  • Lead or participate in retirement plan consulting projects
  • Maintain industry knowledge and communicate information to clients and team members
  • Keep current with changing legislative requirements
  • Provide superior client service, responsiveness, and communication
  • Use Datair, FT William, Pension Pal, and other technologies to maximize efficiency
  • Direct client contact and new business development are discretionary and rewarded, but not required
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Must be an Enrolled Actuary enrolled by the Joint Board for the Enrollment of Actuaries to perform actuarial services under ERISA
  • At least three years of experience as an Enrolled Actuary
  • 3+ years reviewing actuary experience
  • Knowledge of business entities as they relate to plan compensation and plan design
  • Excellent knowledge of 415 limit, 410(b), Top Heavy, and 401(a)(4) nondiscrimination testing
  • Understanding of client business issues and their effect on retirement plans
  • Ability to utilize and keep current CRM software (Pension Pal)
  • Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure with multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Experience with Datair preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of ASC 715 and other FASB requirements preferred
  • Membership in SOA, ASEA, AAA, or NIPA preferred
