Job Description

Assistant Controller at Ōura overseeing US financial reporting and month-end close functions. Driving operational excellence and collaborating with cross-functional teams for financial integrity.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the end-to-end US month-end close, managing governance, cross-functional coordination, and reporting to executive leadership.
  • Apply rigorous standards to accrual methodologies and estimates; review high-risk journal entries to ensure consistency across the organization.
  • Manage balance sheet reconciliations, FX translation, and intercompany eliminations to ensure audit-ready results and actionable variance analysis.
  • Execute the accounting transformation roadmap, designing scalable workflows and driving automation to reduce manual effort and close cycle times.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for external auditors, leading readiness efforts and strengthening the control environment.
  • Collaborate with Technical Accounting to interpret and implement policies, and with FP&A to ensure accuracy in budgeting and forecasting.
  • Mentor and scale a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

  • 12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership within general accounting / controllership
  • Deep expertise in US GAAP, close processes, and financial reporting
  • Strong experience owning or leading month-end close in a complex, high-growth, public environment
  • Experience with audit management and SOX readiness in a public-company environment
  • Ability to create the narrative around monthly financial results and provide meaningful insights to the business
  • Proven ability to make and defend accounting judgments and estimates
  • Experience leading and developing accounting teams
  • Strong cross-functional leadership and communication skills
  • Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite, Oracle, or similar)
  • Advanced Excel proficiency
  • CPA required
  • Experience in high-growth tech, hardware, or consumer products companies
