Job Description

Audio Engineer editing and quality-checking German speech recordings for 24-MAG’s speech AI and text-to-speech workflows. Restoring audio, evaluating pronunciation, and preparing high-volume machine learning datasets.

Responsibilities:

  • Edit and process German-language voice recordings for speech and text-to-speech applications
  • Perform silence trimming, breath reduction or removal, de-clicking, de-essing, and noise reduction
  • Correct technical defects while preserving natural speech characteristics
  • Prepare clean, consistent recordings suitable for machine learning pipelines
  • Work efficiently across large batches of speech audio
  • Review recordings for clipping, distortion, background noise, unwanted artefacts, loudness consistency, and level balance
  • Identify recording inconsistencies and technical defects
  • Ensure audio conforms to defined technical and production specifications
  • Evaluate German pronunciation, fluency, naturalness, and overall speech quality
  • Identify unnatural pronunciation, articulation, pacing, or delivery
  • Assess recordings for suitability within speech and TTS training workflows
  • Work with structured speech datasets and large recording batches
  • Collaborate with teams working on voice talent recordings and speech-model training
  • Follow established audio QA, file-management, and evaluation processes
  • Provide technical feedback on recordings requiring correction or replacement

Requirements:

  • Native or near-native German fluency is required
  • Professional experience editing speech or voice recordings is required
  • Professional experience editing speech, dialogue, narration, or voice recordings
  • Strong critical listening skills for German-language speech
  • Practical knowledge of speech audio quality standards
  • Experience identifying and correcting noise, clipping, distortion, clicks, sibilance, and related defects
  • Hands-on experience with professional audio restoration or editing software
  • Experience working with high-volume audio datasets or structured production workflows
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain consistent quality at scale
  • Training in audio engineering, sound engineering, audio production, broadcast production, or a related discipline may be helpful
  • Equivalent professional experience in speech editing, dialogue production, or audio post-production may also be considered
  • Experience with iZotope RX, Pro Tools, or comparable audio restoration software
  • Previous work with text-to-speech platforms or vendors
  • Experience with speech ML, voice AI, or synthetic speech projects
  • Familiarity with audio annotation or QA pipelines
  • Experience preparing datasets for machine learning applications
  • Background directing or editing German voice talent
  • Knowledge of dialogue restoration and speech-specific post-production
  • Experience assessing differences between natural and synthetic speech
