Job Description
Back End Engineer building Mettle’s secure backend systems with Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, and AWS. Collaborating across mission teams to deliver maintainable customer-focused technology.
Responsibilities:
- Join a core cross-functional mission team to build and develop Mettle
- Develop clean, elegant, reusable, well-tested, maintainable, and extensible code
- Work with stakeholders across the business to influence Mettle Engineering direction
- Put customers' long-term interests at the heart of key decisions
- Collaborate across the backend chapter to uphold standards, best practices, and innovation
- Work collaboratively to resolve technical issues
- Support and oversee junior engineers
- Act as a subject matter expert
Requirements:
- Strong background in software engineering, software design, or database design and architecture
- Solid practical and theoretical knowledge of Java software development
- Strong experience with Spring Boot / Micronaut
- Understanding of Kubernetes / Docker
- Excellent understanding of AWS deployment and configuration
- Experience with message-driven architectures / Kafka / event sourcing
- Experience working on a highly secure application
- Understanding of translating business objectives into data-driven insight
