Job Description
Benefit Advocate Lead supporting Alliant clients with benefits education, enrollment assistance, and claims resolution. Leading escalations, training, reporting, and department processes.
Responsibilities:
- Provide excellent customer service to Alliant's clients through confidential and professional support and guidance
- Educate HR and employees about their benefits
- Act as a mediator with insurance carriers to resolve claims and benefits issues
- Document all pertinent information
- Assist the Manager with day-to-day department needs, including work distribution, call staffing, and recruiting support
- Act as point person for escalated issues
- Train new team members and cross-train employees
- Create and maintain department work processes
- Assist HR, employees, and covered dependents in understanding benefits
- Research benefits and claims issues by contacting insurance companies and provider offices, reviewing billing statements and EOBs, resolving incorrect processing, and interfacing with vendors on eligibility issues
- Return phone calls and emails promptly
- Provide ongoing enrollment and eligibility assistance
- Document issues according to department standards and file paper call logs
- Assist Sales and Account Management teams with enrollment meetings and benefit fairs
- Run client and/or insurance carrier reports on call activity and provide feedback
- Follow department-specific HIPAA requirements
- Attend bi-monthly meetings, group discussions, and department trainings
- Maintain complete and accurate agency management system data
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Human Resources
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Four (4) or more years of experience in Benefits dealing with eligibility, claims resolution and benefits education, or equivalent
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Organized planner with time management/prioritization and multi-tasking skills
- Strong systems knowledge or ability to learn/troubleshoot new systems easily
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products
