Job Description

Benefits Manager leading DeVry’s multi-state benefits strategy, administration, and compliance. Managing 401(k) plans, wellness programs, vendors, pricing, and data-driven colleague experience improvements.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategy, design, and execution of a comprehensive, multi-state benefits portfolio covering health, wellness, retirement, disability, and time-off programs
  • Advise senior leadership with insights, recommendations, and updates on benefits strategy, trends, and performance
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with vendors and brokers
  • Partner with brokers such as HUB International to optimize plan design, pricing strategies, and service delivery
  • Use data, analytics, and AI-enabled tools to improve decision-making, efficiency, and colleague experience
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation in benefit offerings
  • Manage a complex benefits portfolio aligned with colleague needs, organizational priorities, and financial sustainability
  • Lead open enrollment and ongoing benefits administration, resolving issues quickly
  • Ensure compliance with ERISA, FMLA, HIPAA, labor laws, required testing, audits, and SOX requirements
  • Lead the strategy and design of 401(k) plans
  • Oversee 401(k) communications, audits, regulatory filings, funding calculations, and payroll-period contributions
  • Manage quarterly and annual retirement plan audits and refine administration processes
  • Lead DeVry’s wellness strategy and manage vendor meetings, newsletters, challenges, event calendars, and vendor/data needs
  • Create and distribute wellness educational materials
  • Analyze wellness program data and recommend new initiatives
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline required
  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in benefits, including managing multi-state benefit programs
  • CEBS certification preferred
  • Ability to manage and mentor a small team
  • Experience with HRIS systems; Dayforce preferred
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of applicable leave and accommodation laws, including FMLA, ADA, and state and local laws
  • Excellent organizational, customer service, verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask, work independently, and work within a fast-paced team environment
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize work and follow up with minimal supervision
