Job Description
Airbnb Payments Product Manager owning regional payment strategy across Brazil and Mexico. Improving checkout conversion, local payment methods, affordability products, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for regional payments across Brazil, Mexico, and the broader region
- Optimize checkout and conversion by reducing booking friction and improving regional checkout funnels and payment-success rates
- Expand local payment methods and installment/affordability options
- Drive the full product lifecycle from discovery and PRDs through launch, ramp, and iteration
- Define product requirements for processor and payment-method integrations with Partnerships and Engineering
- Lead regulatory and compliance workstreams with Legal, Tax, Compliance, and Finance
- Define and track KPIs across conversion, cost, reliability, and revenue
- Monitor regulatory changes, competitor moves, and emerging payment rails and translate them into the roadmap
- Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Design, Analytics, Data Science, Finance, Compliance/Legal, Partnerships, and Country teams
Requirements:
- 10+ years of product management experience
- Strong track record building and scaling payments or financial products, owning strategy, roadmap, and execution
- Deep understanding of the payments stack in a marketplace environment, including payins, payouts, and flow of funds
- Experience improving checkout and funnel conversion
- Experience with authorization and settlement, processors/gateways and acquirers, card-scheme rules, 3DS/SCA, tokenization/vaulting, and reconciliation
- Experience with local payment methods and affordability products such as wallets, bank transfers, and BNPL/installments
- Familiarity with the LATAM payments ecosystem, including Pix, SPEI, regional wallets, and installment culture
- Familiarity with local regulatory frameworks such as the Central Bank of Brazil and SAT Mexico
- Fluency in defining KPIs, running experiments, and using analytics
- Technical acumen to partner with engineering and explain complex concepts simply
- Strong product thinking and user empathy
- English required
- Portuguese and/or Spanish strongly preferred
