Job Description
Payments Product Manager owning Airbnb’s Latin America portfolio. Driving checkout conversion, local payment methods, affordability products, and regulatory execution across Brazil and Mexico.
Responsibilities:
- Own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for regional payments across Brazil, Mexico, and the broader region.
- Optimize checkout and conversion funnels and improve authorization, approval, and payment-success rates.
- Expand local payment methods and installment/affordability options.
- Drive the full product lifecycle from discovery and PRDs through launch, ramp, and iteration.
- Define product requirements for processor and payment-method integrations.
- Lead regulatory and compliance workstreams with Legal, Tax, Compliance, and Finance.
- Define and track KPIs across conversion, cost, reliability, and revenue.
- Monitor regulatory changes, competitor moves, and emerging payment rails and translate findings into the roadmap.
- Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Design, Analytics, Data Science, Finance, Compliance/Legal, Partnerships, and Country teams.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of product management experience.
- Strong track record building and scaling payments or financial products, owning strategy, roadmap, and execution.
- Deep understanding of the payments stack in a marketplace environment, including payins, payouts, and flow of funds.
- Demonstrated ability to reduce purchase friction and improve funnel conversion.
- Experience with authorization, settlement, processors/gateways, acquirers, card-scheme rules, 3DS/SCA, tokenization/vaulting, and reconciliation.
- Experience with local payment methods and affordability products such as wallets, bank transfers, and BNPL/installments.
- Familiarity with the LATAM payments ecosystem, including Pix, SPEI, regional wallets, and installment culture.
- Familiarity with local regulatory frameworks such as the Central Bank of Brazil and SAT Mexico.
- Fluency in defining KPIs, running experiments, and using analytics to guide decisions.
- Technical acumen to partner with engineering and explain complex concepts simply.
- Strong product thinking and user empathy.
- English required; Portuguese and/or Spanish strongly preferred.
