Job Description

Remote Claims Specialist II guiding Mercury Insurance customers through vehicle, property, and moderate bodily injury claims. Investigating liability, negotiating settlements, and delivering high-quality service.

Responsibilities:

  • Guide customers through the claims process with ongoing guidance and support
  • Investigate and process claims for vehicle and other property damage and moderate bodily injury
  • Focus on accurate and efficient claims handling to prevent unnecessary expenses
  • Provide high-quality customer service throughout the claims process
  • Review and explain coverage details and claims procedures
  • Set reserves for anticipated expenses
  • Arrange vehicle inspections and rental authorizations
  • Address customer inquiries and concerns to ensure satisfaction and retention
  • Obtain information from involved parties and witnesses by phone, email, text, and letter
  • Review law enforcement reports and gather additional evidence such as dash-cam and surveillance video
  • Assess facts of loss and determine liability
  • Identify and escalate high-risk files involving significant indemnity exposure or suspected fraud
  • Analyze medical records and evaluate, negotiate, and settle moderate bodily injury claims
  • Coordinate with legal counsel for represented claimants and unrepresented parties
  • Serve as the primary customer contact and coordinate with other departments
  • Collaborate with the team to support shared customers

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 6 months’ customer service experience in a high-volume work environment or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 6–12 months’ claims adjusting experience preferred
  • Prior experience working in a remote environment is a plus
  • Reliable high-speed internet service with a minimum of 25 Mbps download speed
  • Dedicated workspace, free from distractions
  • Ability to maintain a sedentary position for extended periods
  • Ability to communicate electronically and telephonically with team members, customers, and external parties
  • Ability to operate and type on a computer, laptop, and/or other Company-issued electronic device for extended periods
  • Ability to access and operate Company computer system, prepare documents, enter data, and read documents from a computer database or email system
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, climb, and/or stand to access files, documents, and equipment
  • Ability to grasp, open, and close drawers, filing cabinets, and other equipment
