Job Description
Cloud/AI Developer building Java and GCP image-processing applications for GDIT’s U.S. government missions. Integrating AI, secure APIs, CI/CD, and cloud-native services.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain Java-based cloud-native applications on GCP
- Implement image capture, ingestion, processing, storage, retrieval, and distribution workflows
- Create and maintain versioned, documented RESTful APIs with backward compatibility
- Build image-processing pipelines for validation, transformation, metadata extraction, indexing, retention, archival, and deletion
- Implement AI-enabled image capabilities including classification, OCR/data extraction, redaction, quality checks, and similarity search
- Troubleshoot cloud application defects, perform root-cause analysis, and implement preventative fixes
- Apply secure coding, IAM/authorization, encryption, auditing, and policy-aligned data handling
- Develop CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code with DevOps
- Implement logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, and operational runbooks
- Collaborate with DevOps, QA, Product Management, and security stakeholders
- Participate in architecture reviews, design reviews, code reviews, technical documentation, and shared standards
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited college/university
- Alternatively, four additional years of relevant work experience in lieu of a relevant four-year degree
- 8+ years of professional experience developing backend services and APIs in Java
- Experience with Spring/Spring Boot or similar frameworks
- Hands-on experience designing, deploying, and operating applications on Google Cloud Platform
- Experience with serverless and/or container-based approaches
- Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs, authentication/authorization, and service integrations
- Experience with image-centric workflows, object storage, transformation, and metadata management
- Experience integrating AI capabilities such as computer vision/OCR, extraction, redaction, or search
- Familiarity with AI evaluation and monitoring concepts
- Knowledge of IAM, least privilege, service accounts, secrets management, encryption, and audit logging
- Familiarity with CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code such as Terraform, and Git-based workflows
- Cloud troubleshooting, defect triage, performance tuning, production support, and observability tools
- Strong collaboration and communication across engineering, QA, DevOps, product, and security stakeholders
- Must obtain and maintain a Public Trust
- Must provide onsite fingerprinting at a designated facility
- U.S. residency requirement: must have resided in the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for the required preceding periods
- U.S. Citizenship is not required
