Job Description

Micro Focus COBOL Developer maintaining Conduent’s mission-critical Point-of-Sale and batch-processing applications. Supporting COBOL, CICS, JCL, Oracle, Linux, testing, troubleshooting, and modernization.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze, design, develop, implement, maintain, and enhance systems supporting Point-of-Sale and batch processes
  • Analyze RFPs and business requirements and collaborate with internal teams and clients
  • Contribute to solution design, technical documentation, and development estimates
  • Develop and unit test software solutions
  • Develop testing recommendations and support comprehensive testing of modifications and enhancements
  • Troubleshoot, investigate, resolve, and document complex application and production issues
  • Identify and implement solutions to minimize system disruptions and prevent outages
  • Provide on-call production support as needed
  • Explain technical issues and recommend appropriate solutions to clients and internal teams
  • Assist in preparing functional and technical specifications
  • Present system requirements, designs, and proposed solutions to stakeholders
  • Prepare regular development status updates for management
  • Maintain and update system documentation, reports, and technical exhibits
  • Support system upgrades and modernization initiatives

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience working with Micro Focus COBOL, CICS, JCL, and Oracle in a Linux environment
  • Strong hands-on expertise with Micro Focus COBOL, Oracle 10g/11g, CICS, and JCL
  • Strong SQL skills, including developing complex SQL statements
  • Hands-on experience with Micro Focus Net Express IDE
  • Experience working within a Red Hat Linux environment
  • Experience developing or supporting a Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) system
  • Experience with production support activities and monitoring
  • Flexibility to work morning or afternoon shifts based on business needs
  • Working knowledge of mainframe environments and technologies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex technical issues
  • Ability to quickly learn and work with new technologies
  • At least 3 years of U.S.-based professional experience
  • Preferred: experience with IBM COBOL, ACUCOBOL, or other COBOL environments
  • Preferred: familiarity with ANSI-compliant databases
  • Preferred: experience working with SQL across relational database platforms
