Job Description
Total Rewards expert advising Mercor, an AI-training company, on compensation architecture and equity programs. Completing scoped, paid engagements on live people-team questions.
Responsibilities:
- Help Mercor build its compensation and equity foundation from scratch
- Advise on compensation design and architecture, including salary bands, leveling frameworks, and job architecture
- Advise on annual compensation cycles, merit planning, promotion decisions, bonus programs, and equity refresh
- Advise on benchmarking and compensation structures for executive review
- Design incentive structures
- Advise on equity program management, including option and RSU programs, grant guidelines, pool planning, vesting structures, and refresh philosophy
- Support 409A valuations, plan governance, and grant administration
- Build modeling and communications explaining equity value to candidates and employees
- Participate in scoped paid engagements addressing live compensation questions
- Work on projects focused on training and enhancing AI systems using human expertise
Requirements:
- Depth as a Total Rewards practitioner in compensation design and architecture and/or equity program management
- Built salary bands, leveling frameworks, and job architecture from the ground up
- Owned an annual compensation cycle including merit planning, promotion decisions, bonus programs, and equity refresh
- Benchmarked compensation against a peer set and defended it to executive leadership
- Designed simple, credible incentive structures that changed behavior
- Designed option and RSU programs, including grant guidelines, pool planning, vesting structures, and refresh philosophy
- Worked through 409A valuations, plan governance, and grant administration at a venture-backed company
- Built modeling and communication explaining equity value to candidates and employees
- Experience with compensation philosophy, benchmarking methodology, pay equity, and pay transparency is valuable
- Experience designing compensation for a global or contractor workforce at scale is valuable
- Experience with benefits program design, HRIS and compensation tooling is valuable
- Experience with executive compensation, plan governance, or equity through IPO readiness is valuable
- Must be able to work as an independent contractor
