Job Description

BSA SAR Investigator reviewing suspicious activity, filing SARs, and supporting AML compliance. Protecting Golden 1 Credit Union members through detailed financial investigations.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform AML alert and case review, including research, to determine whether suspicious activity exists
  • Execute investigations based on client onboarding, maintenance, UARs, government sources, and other control areas
  • Analyze CTRs and other financial transactions to monitor and detect suspicious activity
  • Prepare, communicate, and file SAR reports; recommend relationship retention or termination and track account closures
  • Ensure SAR accuracy using a risk-based approach
  • Notify cross-functional departments of suspicious activity
  • Conduct in-depth investigative research using internal and external data sources
  • Assist with 314(b) information requests and law enforcement requests
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable state and federal credit union compliance laws and regulations
  • Review, research, and disposition FRAML, OFAC, and FinCEN alerts within specified timeframes
  • Complete investigations from start to finish and identify and report trends
  • Liaise with local and federal law enforcement and other financial institutions

Requirements:

  • Associate’s Degree or combination of professional experience and education required
  • 1+ years experience in a financial institution with job specific work experience in AML
  • Knowledge of laws applicable to money laundering, including the Bank Secrecy Act, USA PATRIOT Act, US Treasury AML guidelines, OFAC requirements, and Suspicious Activity Reporting requirements
  • Experience investigating customer transactions and reviewing customer information
  • Experience creating SARs
  • Must satisfy background screening requirements of the Federal Credit Union Act
  • Must maintain confidentiality of documentation and communications
